Dangers of Eating Grilled Foods? 7 Ways to avoid Cancer

Grilled food is one of the great pleasures of summer, but unfortunately, the link between grilled meat and cancer just won't go away. If this is of concern to you, there are a few things you can do to minimize your risk.

1. If you love the flavor of grilled food, cut down on the amount of meat you eat by throwing more fruits and vegetables like peaches, nectarines, zucchini, tomatoes, corn, and bell peppers on the grill. In fact, almost any summer fruit or veggie is delicious grilled.

2. Shorten grill time by using a thermometer (always a good idea) to make sure you're not overcooking; heat things on the stove first to give it a head start. Or make kebabs or skewers which require less cooking.

3. Flip food frequently.

4. To avoid smoky flare-ups, which contain cancer-causing substances that coat the food, line your grill with foil poked with holes to allow the fat to drip down. And keep a spray bottle full of water handy to put out flare ups as they occur.

5. If you eat meat, trim fat from meats before cooking (this will help reduce flare ups, too)

6. Marinating food first has been shown to reduce the formation of cancer-causing substances.

7. Use the lowest temperature to cook your food thoroughly. Keep your grill rack as high as possible to keep the food far from the heat.

Avoid processed foods such as hot dogs and sausages because grilled or not, they've been shown to increase cancer risk. Peace.

Herb of the Week:: Elder Flowers?

Whole Foods does not carry Elder Flowers so you may have to do a little footwork. In Washington DC you can buy them from BLUE NILE on Georgia Avenue . Elder is a plant with strong therapeutic effects which can be used to treat and prevent a great number of diseases. Many legends formed around elder, one of them stating that Judas hung himself from an elder tree.

The flowers contain glycosides, tanins, mucilages, sapins, pectins, essential oil, vitamin C and mineral salts. In the fruits, alkaloids, carotene, tanins, organic acids and vitamins A, B and C can be found. The leaves contain vitamin C and the bark is rich in tanins, resines and valerenic acid. All these compounds give the plant diuretic, diaphoretic, sudorific, emolient, laxative, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

Most Important

Elder Flowers strong antiviral medicine, from stimulating the healing of degenerative diseases, to preventing cancerous diseases, to controlling benign tumors.

How To

The infusion of elder flowers is prepared from a tablespoon of flowers added to 250 ml of boiling water. The bowl is kept covered for approximately 5 minutes. It is filtered, sweetened (optional) with honey or agave nectar and 3 cups per day are consumed after each main meal.

Use sparingly and Good luck. Be well.

Drinking Hot Water or Tea Before Bed?

Hot water with tea is beneficial to your health and can be consumed all day. Water is not the life source without good reason. The problem is that as the COLD drinks pass through our system, they solidify the fats from the foods we have just eaten or are eating at present. This makes the body find it harder to digest and disperse the unwanted fats from our body. However, most of us don't MAKE TIME to drink tea during the day. If we simply swap our cold drinks for a warm drink (warm water/tea/herbals) the warm fluids help the fats in our foods to remain fluid and so easing the digestive system and helping the fats pass through our body and reduce risk of clogged arteries

By any means needed, do not drink your water from the water heater because it contains metals that can be dissolved by hot water. Some pipes in your home may have lead soldering, which also can be dissolved by hot water. Add to that the fact that municipal water impurities collect and precipitate in the bottom of your hot water heater.

If you are going to be drinking hot water, make sure it is as clean as your cold drinking water. I boil spring water just to be double protected. There are many who drink from the tap and if that's what your comfortable with then so be it.

The Purifying Effects of Drinking Hot Water

Here is how it works. If you drink a glass or two of hot water, you increase your body temperature slightly. Your body, in order to maintain your temperature around 98.6 degrees, will begin to sweat to cool itself down. The sweating induced by drinking hot water helps purify your bloodstream by flushing toxins out of your body. It is reported that drinking hot water also helps remove deposits in the nervous system that have a negative effect on your thoughts and emotional responses. By drinking hot water, you are able to purify your body and mind, creating a balance that will make you feel healthier and think more clearly. In all things you do it your daily life, say to yourself, "did I detox today". Everyday is a detox day. Especially at night while sleeping. If you drink tea or hot water at night helps with the following

Benefits of tea before bed:

1. Raises the metabolism and increases fat oxidation.
2. Reduces the risk of heart diseases and heart attacks by reducing the risk of trombosis (blood clotting).
3. Reduces the risk of esophageal cancer (cancer in the long hollow tube that runs from your throat to your stomach).
4. Inhibits the growth of certain cancer cells, reduces the level of cholesterol in blood, improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
5. Treat rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases
6. Treat impaired immune function. .
7. Some researches show that, drinking bitter teas like Green Tea regularly may help prevent tooth decay by killing the bacteria which causes the dental plaque.

Essentially it does matter what kind of tea you drink before you rest. Just as long as you raise your body temperature enough so that u sweat is what matters. Be well.

Blessed Earthday: Haile Selassie the I

Hope that this message finds all feeling loved, grateful, inspired, and having learned at least one thing worth repeating... We always like to take the time to honor those light beings that have impacted us in more ways than one. On this day we celebrate the birth of Haile Selassie the I...making his way to this side on July 23, 1892.. I could go into a whole history lesson but, this is just a spark that lights the way to exploration...Its so beautiful to be born and know that your only job is to fulfill a prophecy and be clear on exactly what it is and how it will impact the world. We all come with that knowledge but, it gets caught in the shuffle, somehow...Please continue to build those empires...command and sit in your seat, fearlessly...All of us..ForTrue....Bless..Be Light..Be Well.

Once a year>>>

The nearest star to Earth is the Sun, which is the source of most of the energy on Earth. Other stars are visible in the night sky, when they are not outshone by the Sun. Historically, the most prominent stars on the celestial sphere were grouped together into constellations, and the brightest stars gained proper names. Extensive catalogues of stars have been assembled by astronomers, which provide standardized star designations. Once a year we all have a Sade moment. Last night in New York when I saw an old flyer for a show was mine. Where are you Ms. Lady? Better yet, don't come out. The fans don't deserve you anymore. They are kinda spoiled. Always want more and will never be happy with just knowing you came to this earth as a feeling and not a hue man. Be Well Sade>>> Comments please :)

SALBA or CHIA SEEDS>>>>

I discovered these seeds for myself a few years ago and eat some every day. You can buy them from BLUE NILE in Washington DC or any Whole Foods Market. I’ve experienced greater health, strength, and vitality. I love chia seeds because they love me! After enjoying such positive effects, I began investigating chia in order to learn more about its amazing healing powers.

Preparing the seeds video(disregard the weight loss mumbo jumbo because it's not about loosing weight. Just watch how they are soaked):

Here are just a few of the many astounding benefits of chia seeds:

• Super-Energizing Power...For Greater Endurance and “Go Power”! Due to its unique blend of Protein, Essential Fats, Fiber, Complex Carbohydrates, and Antioxidants, chia is unrivalled among seeds and grains for providing energy to your body.

• Improves Cardiovascular Health...super high levels of heart-healthy EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids)...chia’s oil contains the highest-known percentage of omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid, a whopping 62%–64%!

• Stabilizes Blood Sugar...Reduces blood sugar swings...and supports conditions of hypoglycemia and diabetes.

• Reduces Cravings for Sweets and Junk Foods—high soluble fiber content releases natural, unrefined carbohydrate energy slowly into the bloodstream.

• Improves Mental Focus and Concentration. Chia’s balanced essential fatty acids can signficantly boost your brain power...and brighten your mood.

• High-Quality Protein—Chia contains 20% or more protein...a higher percentage protein than found in other grains, such as wheat, corn, rice, or oats.

• Builds Lean Muscle Mass...Plus it’s useful for weight loss and weight maintenance. Chia is suitable for all lifestyles and dietary regimens, including low-carb diets and vegetarian diets.

• Gluten-Free. Unlike grain-source proteins, chia seed protein contains no gluten. You can eat chia without worrying about gluten if you are sensitive to it…or about developing gluten sensitivity. Chia is an ideal food for individuals with gluten sensitivity, carbohydrate intolerance, hypoglycemia, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, or anyone who wants to avoid common gluten-containing grains like corn, barley, and wheat.

• An Ideal Food for nearly everyone, including individuals with food allergies, food sensitivities, or food and chemical hypersensitivity. One study found no evidence of allergic response to chia, even in individuals with peanut and tree nut allergies.

• Super-Hydration and Electrolyte Balance. Chia’s soluble fiber (hydrophilic colloids) massively retains water...keeps you well-hydrated and maintains your electrolyte balance.

• Supports Healthy Elimination and Detoxification—healthy oils and fiber contribute to greater regularity and comfort...beneficial effects not to be underestimated!

• Uniquely Balanced. Chia offers an amazingly balanced ratios of macronutrients...better balanced than most grains, seeds, and many other foods.

• Much, Much More! Guaranteed!

In fact, chia is most nutritious seed available anywhere, and among the best health-building superfoods or nutritional supplements around...both because of all its incredible benefits, and because it promotes health in everyone who takes it!

Diego Stocco-Music from a Tree & Sand

“In the garden of my house there’s a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. It looks odd and nice at the same time. One day I asked myself if I could create a piece of music with it.”

Diego Stocco - Music From A Tree from Diego Stocco on Vimeo.

“To tune the tree I picked a fundamental note and tuned the twigs by trimming them with a pencil sharpener. I used two Røde NT6 and a NTG-2 as microphones, combined with a customized stethoscope.

I recorded the tracks live on a Pro Tools LE system. I didn’t use any synthesizer or sampler to create or modify the sounds. All the sounds come from playing the tree, by bowing the twigs, shaking the leaves, playing rhythms on the cortex and so on.”

A little something to do if you find yourself in NYC tomorrow...Bless.....Peace...

The Foods We Combine........

Good health cannot be realized in an acidic body. Contributing factors include, eating acid forming foods and combining foods that require different digestive environments. Most folks eat until they are about to burst but, bloating, burping, constipation, fatigue, upset stomach gas, and heartburn are all results of poor food combining. When eating living foods, combining principles are much more relaxed because difficult to digest foods such as beans, nuts, and seeds are soaked and sprouted to increase alkalinity and digestibility. In effect they are pre-digested, meaning that through the sprouting process, the nutrition is broken down into usable units such as amino acids, simple sugars, and fatty acids. Consequently, when eating live foods, you have more flexibility and can combine foods that would not be recommended if cooked. Proper food combining will help you maintain an alkaline digestive tract which, will enable ones to digest food well, absorb its nutrients, and eliminate waste efficiently, avoid illness and disease that thrives in an acidic environment. Here are a few guidelines that will assist ones in achieving wellness through a balanced combination of foods:

-Do Liquids Alone: Drink liquids (water, lemonade, grass juices(wheat or barley), fruit, vegetable, coffee, and tea) before your meal and wait 15 minutes before eating. Or drink liquids after foods are digested. Drinking with our meals, dilutes the hydrochloric acid in the stomach, making digestion less efficient. Liquids carry food out of the stomach before they are broken down, so any absorption of nutrients or raw enzymes, is lost.

-Dense Protein (Meat, Fish, Eggs, Dairy): Do your best not to combine any of these with dense starches (bread, cereal, corn, crackers, grains, potatoes, pasta, yams). Proteins are digested in an acid medium in the stomach. Starch and carbohydrates are digested in an alkaline medium in the mouth. Try eating non- starchy veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini with dense protein. So, instead of eating meat with potatoes, combine meat with veggies and potatoes with veggies.

-Fruits: Do your best not to combine acid fruits (lemons, limes, pineapples, kiwi,) with sweet fruits (bananas, dates, figs, prunes, raisins) Acid fruits require a more alkaline digestive environment than sweet.

-Melons: They contain more water than other fruits and require less time in the stomach. Do watermelon alone, it consists of mostly water and its required time in the stomach is less than that of other melons.

-Sub-Acid Fruits (apples, berries, apricots, cherries, mangoes, papayas, peaches, pears, plums) Can all be combined with sweet fruits or acid fruits (oranges, pineapple, pomegranates, sour grapes, grapefruit, lemons)

Alkaline Forming Foods: All fresh fruits and juices with the exception of blueberries, cranberries, plums, and prunes are alkaline. All fresh vegetables are alkaline forming as well.

-Grains: Amaranth, millet, and quinoa.

-Beans: Fresh green beans, green peas, (acid forming beans such as, aduki, black, chickpeas, kidney, lentil, mung, pinto, navy, and white become alkaline when sprouted.)

-Nuts and Seeds: Aside from almonds and fresh coconut, nuts are slightly acid forming, soaking nuts make them alkaline. All sprouted seeds are alkaline.

*Excessive cooking, freezing, canning, pickling, and preserving w/ sugar and chemicals, greatly reduce alkalinity. Meats (refined and cooked), salts, sugars, starches, alcohol, coffee, and soft drinks are all acidic.

*I know that most of you may read this and wonder, well what can I eat then? This is all about balance and awareness and giving your body enough time to process all your foods well and good. Overload just leads to discomfort and disease. We try our best to promote prevention at all costs. If you know better, then you do better. Try to think more about how foods will gel in your stomach rather than what you are traditionally accustomed to eating...Just a bit of change..Bless..Be Good to Your WHOLE Body...Be well....

Can Parthenocarpic (seedless) fruits and veggies be dangerous?

There are a number of ways to produce seedless fruits and vegetables, ranging from grafting to crossing specific seeded varieties to produce sterile offspring. Technically, the idea of a “seedless fruit” is a bit oxymoronic, as a fruit is, by definition, a fully matured ovary which contains seeds used for propagation. However, given that seedless fruits and vegetables taste and feel like their seeded counterparts, use of the term “seedless” is generally viewed as acceptable for the sake of convenience.

Even the patent for seedless fruits and veggies sounds inhumane (United States Patent 6,114,602: Method for the induction of genetic parthenocarpy in plants). With this patent they can produce under extreme temperatures which lessons your chances of gaining proper nutrients from what you consume.

Some say "Its hybrid not genetic alteration...they are safe. If you notice the "seedless" fruits..they still have seeds but are tiny and not able to germinate. Seedless crops must be planted with seeded crops to be pollinated..so they are safe." Anything genetically altered is weak. Look and hybrid cars or hybrid shoes or hybrid bikes. They seem better initially but they just don't seem the same over time. Especially those hybrid bikes. :)

If you read the bible, Genesis 1:29 advises us to eat only herbs bearing seed and fruits bearing seeds. Did you know bananas are the most hybridized food? Go to Bali, Indonesia and you will see. You can only eat one because they are so filling. Most seeded fruits force you to take your time while eating which is great for PROPER CHEWING TECHNIQUES.

Hybrid fruits and veggies are higher in sugar and low in minerals. You ever notice a weird reaction when you eat small amounts of seedless fruits vs. seeded? You loose out. Imagine your body without ovaries or a uterus. You can't bear fruit. You see how that works and sounds? The truth is right before us. So be wise and use your head when shopping because you're typically paying more for less which is the McDonald's formula. Be well...Stay Upful!

Anima D'Acciaio Trailer Ver5.1

Its simply amazing how a new craze of riding brings out the old greats. I have admired "Ciocc" bicycles for the last 7 years and I finally get to see the creator of a 50 year old bike company. The legends always know how to adapt to the "now" because originality is timeless. It's like Nina Simone or Ravi Shankar coming from retirement to do a song with Bajka or Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon. Wow. I really love bikes a little too much. Be well and check the vids.
