Nutritional Yeast
Nutritional yeast is yellow in color & provides a nutty cheesy flavor. It is popular among vegans because it is a good source of vitamin B12 & also a complete protein (9 grams in just 3 tablespoons). It can be found in bulk at most natural food stores.
Not only is nutritional yeast valuable for its nutrients, but it also provides a great taste to many foods. Versatility at its finest! Here are some ideas to try...
-Stove-popped popcorn with olive oil, sea salt, cayenne pepper & nutritional yeast (my favorite snack)
-Nutritional yeast sprinkled on a baked potato or mashed potatoes
-Nutritional yeast added to pasta sauce (or sprinkled on top)
-Nutritional yeast added to soups & broths
-Homemade bread with olive oil & nutritional yeast
- Tofu scramble with vegetables, cayenne pepper & nutritional yeast
Be creative & be well!
