Georgia Anne Muldrow is Jyoti courtesy of Giant Step>>>

Jyoti is a Sanscrit word meaning “light,” and it’s the new alias which Georgia Anne Muldrow will be using for all her upcoming jazz projects. The name Jyoti was given to her by the late great Alice Coltrane, a friend of the family. The first of these jazz projects will be Ocotea, drawing from an ocean of influences such as Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys, Swamini Truiyasangitanada’s Monastic Trio, Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Henry Threadgill, Sun-Ra, and Stevie Wonder (to name a few).

Infused with experimental synthesizers that poses a pan-tonal sensibility, and melodies that soar about with raw musicianship, Ocotea is sure to become a new-jazz classic. It will be released on limited CD/vinyl on June 15th.

This is Georgia like you’ve never seen her before.
