On July 10, 2010 the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs will hold the District’s first DC African Festival. Making a rare appearance in the neighborhood they grew up in, DJ Damu the Fudgemunk and Underdog the DJ on those things called turntables playing Nigerian funk, juju music, fete and a variety of whatever they feel is real.

The event entitled, “Celebrating DC Communities through Arts and Culture,” will showcase and highlight African communities in the District of Columbia will be held at the Takoma Community Center (4th &Whittier/Van Buren) from 12-6 pm. This year’s event will feature live entertainment, arts activities, food, and vendors. The festival will offer a great opportunity to learn more about African art and culture.

This event is free and open to the public.
