They represent the now even though they were "then". The Au Pairs were a band that never fully got the credit they deserved. Usually pushed aside for similar bands, such as Gang of Four or Delta 5; and after the lack of success on their second album, Sense and Sensuality, Au Pairs sort of imploded on themselves. Frontwomen Lesley Woods' viewpoints of sex and politics, mixed with a Funkadelic influenced sense of rhythm, would be what made them staples in the genre 30 years later though.
