Senya-Children of The Ghetto
Produced by Clive Chin for Above Rock, matrix AB54455, distributed by
JammylandAlso reissued with blue label

Hailing from East Kingston, the young Senya was brought under the attention of Aston 'Familyman' Barret by Bunny Wailer at he start of the seventies. In 1974, Familyman took Senya to Randy´s studio and, together with Clive Chin, created the haunting tunes
Children of the Ghetto and
Rootsman. When Bob Marley finished building the Tuff Gong Studio at 56 Hope Road, Familyman took Senya again to the studio and recorded
Natural Woman and a new version of
Children of the Ghetto (some of the recordings of these sessions can be found on Familyman´s
Juvinile Delinquent album). At the 1981 Reggae Sunsplash, she performed solo and later joined the stage with Bob Marley. She also sang background vocals on the international superhit
Jerusalem by Alpha Blondy. In the nineties she toured with the Wailers band as a backing vocalist, until in 2001 she sadly transitioned away.
