Last weekend, a friend of ours reminded us about yet another book related to nutrition and health that I’ve been meaning to read: The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-term Health by T. Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell II.
Drawing on the studies in rural China, this book (published in 2005) examines the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer and the confusion surrounding nutrition caused by powerful lobbies, governments, and scientists.
Also, I’ve been meaning to take a look at these other books related to nutrition and health (recommended by Michael Pollan):
- What to Eat by Marion Nestle
- The Jungle Effect: A Doctor Discovers the Healthiest Diets from Around the World–Why They Work and How to Bring Them Home by Daphne Miller
- Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition, and Health by Marion Nestle
I’m sure if we read any of these books we'll want to expand my small fruit and vegetable garden even more!
