The Truth is Organized>>Releasing Hypnotical Gases

OK, long (run-on sentence) but......I am listening to Organized Konfusions "Releasing Hypnotical Gases" off their first record (...a real record) circa 1991 (when it was put out) and I get an email from my good friend at N.O.A.A. with an image of the ice caps in 1991 and what they will look like in 2010. A few seconds after, I hear Pharoah Monch say:

"No need for sunlight, from concentration camps I escape with my sanity -- in 2010 every man will be subject to global warming, formless oval Millions of locusts swarming"

Cocoa Nibs & Mulberry Superfoods>>>

Cocoa Nibs

Cocoa beans are the seed of a fruit that grows on the cocoa tree. Cocoa trees originated in the Amazon basin, and they will only grow in a very warm, moist, shady environment. Cocoa beans contain many substances that have earned them the reputation as being nature's antidepressant. Cocoa beans contain three neurotransmitters that are associated with promoting a healthy mood and positive mental state: serotonin, dopamine and phenylethylamine.

Now, we are not speaking of Hersheys Chocolate. I am speaking of natural raw cocoa nibs. What's healthy is the cacao bean, minimally processed. How is this possible, something that only recently was thought of as an unhealthy, dangerous, guilty indulgence...a sign of dietary decadence, now being hailed as beneficial to everything from brain health to skin elasticity to cardiovascular health to anti-cancer and pretty much everything in between? It's simple: chocolate does not equal cacao bean, nor vice-versa; most candy and chocolate bars contain not only low levels of cacao bean compared to other unhealthy ingredients such as sugars, milk fat, artificial flavorings and so on, but the quality and processing of the cacao used in these products is often of low health benefits due to everything from alkalization to refining and processing and over-roasting the healthy elements right out of the beans.

But you want it raw!!! Cacao contains a wide array of unique properties and minerals, including high levels of sulfur and magnesium.

Mulberrys

Mulberry is one of the nutrition treasures of alternative health medicine that has many health benefits to all who eat it. Mulberry contains fiber, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, carbohydrates, iron and proteins essential to one’s good health. The fruit is found mainly in the subtropical regions of Asia, Africa and the Americas and can be black, red, pink or white in color. One benefit of Mulberry is that it contains anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are believed to contribute to the antioxidant properties of berries, and they are the reasons berries have their dark colors.

Mulberry juice is believed to be a good source of treating anemia and poor blood circulation. In Chinese medicine, people regularly mix Mulberry juice as a tonic and drink it to alleviate anemic symptoms and to improve their blood circulation. Mulberry also has the health benefit of soothing the nerves. When combined with Chinese schizandra and ligustrum, Mulberry is effective at soothing the nerves after a stressful day.Mulberries are a good source of resveratrol, a potent phytonutrient also found in grapes that researchers believe can prevent cancer and aid in the fight of existing cancers.Because of their resveratrol content, mulberries may be a tool in one's life extension arsenal, as resveratrol has shown in several studies to extend the life of mice. (Thank you mice!!)

In Turkey, a treatment for constipation is to eat white mulberries on an empty stomach with a glass of water. In China, tea made with mulberry paste is believed to strengthen one's hearing and vision. In several countries, mulberries are considered an effective remedy for prematurely gray hair. Be well!!! By the way, Whole Foods has these in stock.

A Bit Of Clae....

Just walked into these during my runnings today. I have always liked Clae for their extra clean and casual ads, nothing flashy, just to the point. These are called "The McQueen" Not a collabo with Alexander McQueen, I feel like that would be too obvious but, semi-predictable is kind of in right now, in the industry of wears, anyway...They are pretty classy though, depending on whose wearing them and with what...We are all about the balance in all things good and didn't want to short change you, you need at least one random shoe suggestion in between good music to check and your healing works. Just once in a while, to keep you on your toes....Especially, if the sharing is good...Check www.clae.com....Bless Up....

Stretching the spine: routines and health benefits

There are many health benefits to stretching the spine. In fact, various cultures have been aware of this fact for thousands of years. The Hindus developed yoga, a systematic series of poses combined with deep breathing, which invigorates the body and mind. The spine serves many important functions in the human body. It protects our spinal cord, and serves as the root of our nervous system. It also supports our upper body and enables us to stand up, bend, and twist. The backbone is the core of the body.

The Seated Forward Bend
helps to relieve tension in the back neck and shoulders and can be done just about anywhere and any time. It can be done by following these stop-by-step instructions.

1. Find a sturdy seat and scoot your bottom so that it is sitting right on the edge of it.

2. Separate your legs to slightly more than a hips width apart.

3. Bend forward from your hips while being careful to keep your back straight.

4. Drop your head and completely relax your neck and shoulders. Let your arms dangle loosely.

5. Bring your arms up and hold onto your elbows. Lean into the stretch even more.

6. Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale out. Repeat.

7. Sit up slowly. Take one more deep breath and exhale.

The Cobra, also known as the Bhujanga Asana, strengthens the spine, offers flexibility, and can be done by following these steps.

1. Lie down on your stomach. Hold your legs together as though they are stuck together with superglue. Place the palms of your hands underneath your shoulders with your forehead resting on the floor.

2. Inhale. Bring your head up so that you are looking straight ahead. Take a couple deep breaths. Use your back muscles to lift your chest as high as possible, take a couple deep breaths. Then lower your body back down again.

3. Inhale again. Come up while using your hands to push the trunk of your body up until you are bending from the middle of your spine. Breathe normally.

4. Walk hands in toward the body, straighten your arms, and lift your pelvis. Separate your legs and bend your knees so that you are up on your hands and knees. Drop your head down and reach it to your feet. Breathe normally and come back down on your belly again.

The Child’s Pose
is relatively easy to master and offers such benefits as increasing circulation to the lower back and abdominal area, and helps to relieve lower back pain, as well. It can be done as follows.

1. Get down on your hands and knees.

2. Take a deep breath and bend back so that your bottom is resting on your heels.

3. Rest your forehead on the floor.

4. Place your arms back by your side with palms facing upward.

5. Relax your body and take several breaths in.

6. Hold the position for a few minutes while breathing gently.

All three of these positions offer some of the benefits of stretching the spine. When done on a regular basis these poses can help mild back discomfort and improve other areas of physical and mental well-being. Once you have mastered them, you can enjoy the wonderful effects of stretching all of the time.

Standing Ovation>>>Harvesting the Water With Rain Barrels

Maybe, fresh water is becoming the next oil in terms of being a necessary but limited resource. However, even if that turns out to be hyperbole, regional droughts will always be with us. That means that at some point many people will be forced to conserve water.

"The population is growing, but the water supply is not," says Bill Hoffman, a coordinator for the City of Austin Water Conservation Program, in Texas. That's why people around the country are turning to the centuries–old practice of collecting rain as an alternative source of water.

By collecting rain from a roof during wet months and storing it in a tank or cistern, homeowners can create an alternative supply that won't tax the groundwater or jack up the water bill. Its kind of hard convincing me to drink it considering the acid rain concept. But, collecting water to re-use for non internal use sounds feesable. And because rain doesn't contain the minerals found n wells or the chlorine in municipal supplies, it's ideal for watering the lawn, washing the car, doing the laundry, taking a shower—even drinking if it's properly filtered."Rainwater is the purest water you can find," says Dr. Hari Krishna, president of the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA).

A rainwater-collection system can be as simple as a rain barrel at the end of a downspout or as elaborate as a whole–house system, which supplies all the water needs for my family of four in the Texas Hill Country. Cost and complexity depend on how much water you need and how you plan to use it.A house with a sloped roof, gutters, and downspouts is well on its way to harvesting rainwater for landscape irrigation or other nonpotable uses. You just need a few simple components: wire–mesh gutter screens to keep out debris, a storage tank, and a way to move the water out of the tank.

The storage tank, or cistern, can be made from almost any material—even a clean recycled metal drum. Gardening stores sell 55– to 75–gallon plastic rain barrels, complete with leaf screens and spouts, for $50 to $250. Wooden barrels have a nostalgic charm, but they're hard to come by and expensive. A wine or whiskey barrel made by a professional cooper will cost at least $250.Larger storage tanks can be made of stone, cement, metal, wood, or fiberglass.

To prevent mosquitoes from breeding in tanks, make sure the tanks are covered or screened. Also, during winter months, barrels should be kept only three quarters full to allow freezing water to expand. Gravity is the easiest (and cheapest) way to move rainwater out of the tank. Systems that work by gravity are good for watering landscapes; you only need to open a spigot or valve at the bottom of the tank. However, if you have to move water to a level higher than the tank, you'll need a pump.

A 1–horsepower electric jet pump mounted in a small shed near the tank costs about $400, and can provide about 8 gallons of water a minute up to 500 feet away from the water tank.

What Is Tea Tree Oil? Benefits?

Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial, fungicide.

Tea tree oil is effective against nail fungus, ringworm, athlete's foot, dandruff, acne, blackheads and many types of infestations including lice, mites, scabies and mosquitoes etc...

Tea tree oil is not just soothing and disinfecting, it is capable of penetrating into the lower skin layers with its anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, pain-killing and wound-healing qualities.

It promotes sweating - which enhances the body's own natural preventative response when threatened by infection. Great for colds alone or in combination with eucalyptus oil. Add to an oil or cream and massage on chest alone or chest and back. Add about 1-2 drop of each. Tea tree oil exhibits expectorant and balsamic characteristics, which are especially beneficial in the case of throat or chest infections, having a generally soothing and clearing (mucus-expelling) effect on the entire respiratory tract. It is also effective against head colds and acne.

It can be used as a immune system booster and a preventative against many types of infections. In a nutshell!

The Footstool Home Remedy>>>

Most of us spend most of our time trying not to think about our bowel movements, so it’s no surprise that many people do not know what a “normal” bowel movement is. The fact is that there is no one definition of a normal bowel movement. There are gradations of normal, and every person is going to have different bowel habits. There are, however, several signs that a bowel movement is abnormal and should be discussed with a physician.

Bowel habits among healthy people vary greatly from three times a day to three times a week. In some individuals, constipation may refer to infrequent bowel movements (less than 3 per week). So lets assume you are very regular and have normal releases.

The assistance provided by a foot stool are broad. The AMERICAN toilet has a faulty design. Dr William Welles, writer of The Culture of the Abdomen published in 1924, says,"It would have been better if the contraption had killed its inventor before he launched it under humanity's buttocks." We don't believe in killing but this statement has a lot of truth within reason.

Constipation, hernias, varicose veins, hemorrhoids and appendicitis were also attributed to the use of the toilet. A solution to the dilemma was offered in the form of a foot stool used to elevate the feet to the approximate squatting posture. If you don't have a nice fancy wood foot stool, you can use anything that elevates your feet at least to the point where your knees are above your waist. You will have a better and more complete release of your intestines every day if you put a footstool in front of the toilet. As most of the rest of the world knows, the easiest bowel movements come when the human body is in a squatting position. American toilets disable the proper amount of matter to release from the body. They just look nice.

Juicing Update?????

You've heard the talk. Yes, everyone's juicing but you.
So, what's the deal? Well, here it is: juicing takes all the fiber out of your favorite fruits and veggies so all that's left is the good stuff.

I know, you're thinking, What? I thought fiber was good for you. I'm supposed to increase my fiber intake, right? Well, yes...sort of.

Here's the thing--it's nearly impossible for us to get the daily dose of vitamins and minerals our bodies need through the food that we eat in a 24 hour period. Juicing makes it easier.

Of course, you can take supplements. In fact, you probably should take supplements. However, fresh fruit and/or vegetable juice absorbs more easily into your system, increasing your body's ability to utilize all those vitamins and minerals.

Juicing is also much easier on your digestive system. The less energy your body has to use digesting food, the more you will have left over for other things like running, jumping, laughing, and living.

Those battling disease often incorporate juicing into their plan for recovery, allowing their bodies the energy needed to heal.

Waxpoetics Issue 36 - Gilberto Gil/Airto Moreira

I used to be sceptical about Wax Poetics but if your a real life documetarian, AS MOS DEF USED TO SAY, its worth buying and collecting every issue. I know my brother, DAMU, cherishes his collection. Remember when we used to collect The Source Magazines back in the day. Black when they put pics of graffiti in the mag. Or all those South Pole and Lugz adds? When we didn't care about the foods we ate?

For Waxpoetics 36th issue, there first Brazil Issue, writer David Katz sat down with tropicalia founder Gilberto Gil at his Bahia residence and spoke about the past and present. They talk with the great percussionist Airto Moreira and the brilliant Arthur Verocai, and take a look at soul man Tim Maia. Also: Jards Macale, Ceu, Joyce, Ze Bertrami.

Speaking of Tropicalia....Tropicalia In Furs is a store near lower east side of Manhattan. I went there not to long ago and DROPPPPPED!!!. Nothing like NYC. Records and good vegan food. What more is there to life? Comments accepted.....

Weekend Lessons on Your Eating Habits>>

These tips should get you through the weekend and beyond. They work!

Eat 5-6 Smaller Meals Per Day

Instead of eating three medium to large-sized meals per day, you should be eating five smaller meals. You can even treat yourself at the end of the day with a small dessert.

You should also always eat breakfast within one hour of rising. This is because your metabolism has slowed down during the night and breakfast will kick-start it up again.

A lot of people think it's OK to skip breakfast because that means fewer fat and calories and one less meal for the day. But when you skip breakfast, hunger begins to kick in and that actually slows down your metabolism even more.

The key to health is not to eat less, but to actually eat more sensible meals.

Eating more frequent, smaller meals will prevent you from feeling hungry throughout the day. And if you're eating fiber and proteins and drinking enough water, you'll actually feel fuller for longer periods of time and will not have the urge to snack so often.

Here's my eating schedule if interested:

1. 7:00 a.m. - Eat breakfast
2. 10:00 a.m. - Eat a light snack
3. 12:00 p.m. - Eat lunch
4. 4:00 p.m. - Eat a another snack
5. 7:00 p.m. - Eat a small dinner with a treat

Eating More Boosts Your Metabolism

Sounds funny but it's true. The actual process of breaking down food burns up calories. So if you eat several meals throughout the day, you'll burn up more calories through the digestion process.

Now of course this doesn't mean eat more of the "bad stuff" - this would be foods high in fat and calories. When I say "eat more" that means meals that consist of sensible foods high in fiber and protein. It's okay to treat yourself every now and then, just don't overdo it.

Stop Eating 3 Hours Before Bedtime

You've probably seen the suggestion of not eating anything after 7 p.m. Well this generally assumes you go to bed around 9 or 10 at night.

If you are a night owl, you may retire a little later so it may seem unrealistic to not eat anything after 7 if you don't go to bed until 12 a.m.

Generally, the rule of the thumb is to not eat anything within 3 hours of your bedtime. So if you do usually go to sleep at 1 a.m. this would mean no food intake after 10 p.m.

The reason you don't want to eat late at night is because your food may not properly digest. This can cause morning gas and stomach cramps.

Some people who complain about bloating never realize that it's from the gas and food particles left over from improper digestion. This can be avoided if you cut down the late night snacking.

Eating late at night also forces your body to use its energy on digestion,. One of the primary functions of sleep is to help you recuperate from the day. You want your body to be as relaxed as possible so you can wake up energized.

Now we all know we have to cheat at some points. It's just not realistic to believe you can refrain from eating late at night every single night. So if you must cheat, then eat something healthy like a piece of fruit or a very small handful of nuts.

“How it would be, if a house was dreaming”

The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture - the theoretic conception and visual pattern of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. The Basic idea of narration was to dissolve and break through the strict architecture of O. M. Ungers “Galerie der Gegenwart”. Resultant permeabilty of the solid facade uncovers different interpretations of conception, geometry and aesthetics expressed through graphics and movement. A situation of reflexivity evolves - describing the constitution and spacious perception of this location by means of the building itself.

Sunshine Burgers>>>

Peace! We have been eating these for years but just wanted to share these with those that don't know. Not all veggie burgers are created equal. One of my favorite brands is Sunshine Burgers. Appropriately enough, these veggie burgers are made out of a sunflower seed base, with the addition of brown rice. They’re free of soy, wheat, gluten, and dairy (in fact, they’re vegan), so they can be especially useful if you have certain food sensitivities. And they’re available in half a dozen varieties, from Original to Barbecue (how appropriate!) to the new Falafel. My favorite is the Garden Herb flavor. Mainly because its green.

But it gets better: all Sunshine Burgers (except the Original) are certified organic. And if you’re wondering what kind of effort is involved in preparing them, rest assured it’s minimal. The burgers are fully-cooked, oven-browned for a more attractive appearance, and then frozen; you need only heat and serve. My favorite variety is the Garden Herb, but then again I haven’t tasted the newcomer Breakfast Patty yet. And don’t think for a minute that you have to restrict use of these to a barbecue grill. I enjoy Sunshine Burgers year-round; I heat them on a nonstick griddle and use them as part of the filling (along with more veggies and condiments) for a whole wheat wrap.

Many of the brands that are readily available like, "Morning Star", have tons of additives and calories leading to excess fat absorption and calorie intake. Basically empty calories. I am not endorsing just here to push you to better choices of wellness. Stay Up!

Dangers of Eating Grilled Foods? 7 Ways to avoid Cancer

Grilled food is one of the great pleasures of summer, but unfortunately, the link between grilled meat and cancer just won't go away. If this is of concern to you, there are a few things you can do to minimize your risk.

1. If you love the flavor of grilled food, cut down on the amount of meat you eat by throwing more fruits and vegetables like peaches, nectarines, zucchini, tomatoes, corn, and bell peppers on the grill. In fact, almost any summer fruit or veggie is delicious grilled.

2. Shorten grill time by using a thermometer (always a good idea) to make sure you're not overcooking; heat things on the stove first to give it a head start. Or make kebabs or skewers which require less cooking.

3. Flip food frequently.

4. To avoid smoky flare-ups, which contain cancer-causing substances that coat the food, line your grill with foil poked with holes to allow the fat to drip down. And keep a spray bottle full of water handy to put out flare ups as they occur.

5. If you eat meat, trim fat from meats before cooking (this will help reduce flare ups, too)

6. Marinating food first has been shown to reduce the formation of cancer-causing substances.

7. Use the lowest temperature to cook your food thoroughly. Keep your grill rack as high as possible to keep the food far from the heat.

Avoid processed foods such as hot dogs and sausages because grilled or not, they've been shown to increase cancer risk. Peace.

Herb of the Week:: Elder Flowers?

Whole Foods does not carry Elder Flowers so you may have to do a little footwork. In Washington DC you can buy them from BLUE NILE on Georgia Avenue . Elder is a plant with strong therapeutic effects which can be used to treat and prevent a great number of diseases. Many legends formed around elder, one of them stating that Judas hung himself from an elder tree.

The flowers contain glycosides, tanins, mucilages, sapins, pectins, essential oil, vitamin C and mineral salts. In the fruits, alkaloids, carotene, tanins, organic acids and vitamins A, B and C can be found. The leaves contain vitamin C and the bark is rich in tanins, resines and valerenic acid. All these compounds give the plant diuretic, diaphoretic, sudorific, emolient, laxative, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

Most Important

Elder Flowers strong antiviral medicine, from stimulating the healing of degenerative diseases, to preventing cancerous diseases, to controlling benign tumors.

How To

The infusion of elder flowers is prepared from a tablespoon of flowers added to 250 ml of boiling water. The bowl is kept covered for approximately 5 minutes. It is filtered, sweetened (optional) with honey or agave nectar and 3 cups per day are consumed after each main meal.

Use sparingly and Good luck. Be well.

Drinking Hot Water or Tea Before Bed?

Hot water with tea is beneficial to your health and can be consumed all day. Water is not the life source without good reason. The problem is that as the COLD drinks pass through our system, they solidify the fats from the foods we have just eaten or are eating at present. This makes the body find it harder to digest and disperse the unwanted fats from our body. However, most of us don't MAKE TIME to drink tea during the day. If we simply swap our cold drinks for a warm drink (warm water/tea/herbals) the warm fluids help the fats in our foods to remain fluid and so easing the digestive system and helping the fats pass through our body and reduce risk of clogged arteries

By any means needed, do not drink your water from the water heater because it contains metals that can be dissolved by hot water. Some pipes in your home may have lead soldering, which also can be dissolved by hot water. Add to that the fact that municipal water impurities collect and precipitate in the bottom of your hot water heater.

If you are going to be drinking hot water, make sure it is as clean as your cold drinking water. I boil spring water just to be double protected. There are many who drink from the tap and if that's what your comfortable with then so be it.

The Purifying Effects of Drinking Hot Water

Here is how it works. If you drink a glass or two of hot water, you increase your body temperature slightly. Your body, in order to maintain your temperature around 98.6 degrees, will begin to sweat to cool itself down. The sweating induced by drinking hot water helps purify your bloodstream by flushing toxins out of your body. It is reported that drinking hot water also helps remove deposits in the nervous system that have a negative effect on your thoughts and emotional responses. By drinking hot water, you are able to purify your body and mind, creating a balance that will make you feel healthier and think more clearly. In all things you do it your daily life, say to yourself, "did I detox today". Everyday is a detox day. Especially at night while sleeping. If you drink tea or hot water at night helps with the following

Benefits of tea before bed:

1. Raises the metabolism and increases fat oxidation.
2. Reduces the risk of heart diseases and heart attacks by reducing the risk of trombosis (blood clotting).
3. Reduces the risk of esophageal cancer (cancer in the long hollow tube that runs from your throat to your stomach).
4. Inhibits the growth of certain cancer cells, reduces the level of cholesterol in blood, improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
5. Treat rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases
6. Treat impaired immune function. .
7. Some researches show that, drinking bitter teas like Green Tea regularly may help prevent tooth decay by killing the bacteria which causes the dental plaque.

Essentially it does matter what kind of tea you drink before you rest. Just as long as you raise your body temperature enough so that u sweat is what matters. Be well.

I could go into a whole history lesson but, this is just a spark that lights the way to exploration...Its so beautiful to be born and know that your only job is to fulfill a prophecy and be clear on exactly what it is and how it will impact the world. We all come with that knowledge but, it gets caught in the shuffle, somehow...Please continue to build those empires...command and sit in your seat, fearlessly...All of us..ForTrue....Bless..Be Light..Be Well.
